Happy Birthday Kit

The leaders of DAP and the people of Pantai Remis gave YB Sdr Lim Kit Siang a surprise birthday cake before he spoke at the ceramah at Pantai Remis on 21/02/09.

Saudara Kit has given most of his 68 years to the fight for democracy, justice, equality and good governance in Malaysia. He was detained under the draconian ISA twice for speaking up on injustices he saw being perpetuated by the Barisan Nasional government. His first detention was in 1969 and the second during 'Operation Lalang'. (I remember when I was very young i.e. in the 1970s, that when he had just been released from the Kamunting detention camp, he came to my kampung in Sitiawan, Perak to greet the people. His touch/annointing had caused me to be interested in politics since then. I also remember taking leave from work when I was in Penang to welcome him back after his second ISA experience, which lasted 18 months.)

He is a man of principle, and deserves respect without reservation for his commitment and struggles without thinking of self-interest and self-gain. Despite all the hardship, difficulties and personal loss he went through, he still fights on not for himself but for the nation.

From glory to glory

Since the Pakatan Rakyat took over the government of Perak with the people's endorsement through the democratic process of elections on the 8th of March, 2008, many changes have taken place in the administration of the state. Many new, just and fair policies have been implemented for the betterment of the people.

Pakatan Rakyat leaders, especially the Exco, have worked together to implement the 'universal values' of transparency, trustworthiness, justice, effective and welfare conscience government.

For example, all new projects have been awarded to qualified contractors (according to the licences they possessed) though an open tender system. The state government was thus able to save money on many projects and use the remaining funds to implement additional projects of benefit to the people for example in the area of flood prevention. In addition, business licenses have been approved without discrimination or favouritism.

All leaders are expected to be trustworthy and transparent in carrying out their duties without thought for personal gain. For the past year, this principle has been embodied in the persons of YB Dato’ Ngeh Koo Ham, YB Nga Kor Ming and other leaders whom I know personally.

Here are some more examples of Pakatan Rakyat government's many undisputed achievements in the past year, which the Barisan National had not managed to accomplish in 51 years of government.

- 20m3 of free water for poor families.
- RM6 Million given to the 6,000 first year needy university students from Perak.
- Implementation of local JKKK elections in many villages and in doing so returning power to the rakyat
- Granting of freehold land titles to 134 and 349 new villages and kampong tersusun respectively in the whole of Perak. These represented 102,000 titles for RPT kampong tersusun and 47,000 titles for new villages.
- Committment to giving 8.25 acres of land to each household of the Orang Asli in Perak.
- Allocation of land for Muslim religious schools, Chinese schools and other kinds of aid for Tamil schools.
- Preventing the federal government from giving the right to waste management to only one company
- Preventing the corporatisation of water works (LAP) by the federal government. LAP makes millions of ringgit every year. This indirectly prevented incorporation of the Indah Water Konsortium (IWK) bill into our water bill.
- Collection of RM637million in revenue in 2008 which is the highest ever achieved by the Perak government. (RM97Million more than the previous year despite the economic downturn.)
- Approval of more 100 applications for housing, commercial and industrial projects in the first three months of administration.
- Attracted and increased FDI of multinational companies due to being business friendly attitude and efficiency in decisions making. FDI for 2008 was RM3.4 billion.
- Gave out goodies to the poor during Hariraya Aidilfiltri, Deepavali, and Chinese New Year.
- And the list goes on...

The people of Perak strongly support Pakatan Rakyat because we are very pleased with what
the Pakatan Rakyat government has done and we trust that they will continue to do even better in the future.

It is amazing how much people can get done if they do not worry about who gets the credit. -Sandra Swinney

Briefing on the latest developments for DAP members

DAP leaders briefed DAP members and leaders from Perak on the latest developments in the Perak state government at Chin Woo Hall Ipoh, Perak at 3.00pm on 9/2/09.

More than 1000 loyal members attended the gathering to get first hand informations from the party's leaders, including YB Sdr Lim Kit Siang, the reason being that the mass media which are controlled by BN usually gives inaccurate reports on us most of the time.

We pledged loyalty to 'Raja kita' by singing Negaraku which we always do in all DAP functions. The elected representatives to the State Assembly first and foremost expressed their sincere thanks and gratitude to leaders at every level and members who had supported them all this while especially during this trying time. The leaders pledged to continue with the struggles and not to surrender the people's choice of government to the BN until and unless the DUN is dissolved to pave the way for the democratic process of a by- election.

We in the DAP are still in spirits despite all the uncertainties for the battle is not lost yet, and definitely not the war either! This is because the people are behind the DAP leadership.
Dato' Ngeh Koo Ham briefed all the members on the action plan of the Pakatan Rakyat Government. He said the legal team is deliberating on where to file the suits on the illegal Menteri Besar in the person of Datuk Dr Zamri Abdul Kadir. There are two options, either to file in Ipoh or Kuala Lumpur. Points of considerations are the preceding Judge and the locality of event. The suits may include the illegal swearing in of the new Excos which is scheduled to be tomorrow 10/2/09.

Dato' Ngeh also wants the court to decide on the legality of the three ADUNs [BA: who resigned from the Pakatan Rakyat to become independent] as soon as possible and impartially so that the crisis can be resolved as soon as possible. The validity of the newly sworn-in Menteri Besar will also be challenged in a court of law for there can never be two menteris besar in a state. Dato' Ngeh also challenged Datuk Seri Najib to call for a by-election to validate his claim that the people supported him in his draconian, illegal and most dirty power grab in the state of Perak.

Dato' Ngeh also wanted him to clear his name from Altanthuya, Eurocopter, Submarine and other cases, to which he has been linked, before taking over as Prime Minister.

Aside from the legal processes, the leadership is also going to the grassroots to explain what is going on and we encourage all the peace loving people and all who still want the democratic process to prevail to come and support all the ceramahs organised throughout the state. Do call the nearest DAP branch for more informations.

Dato' Ngeh also likened all these crises to 'birth pains' after which a mother nevertheless rejoices to see her new born baby. To this effect the party or the Pakatan Rakyat can now be wiser in judging when to trust their members, to 'chastise', and to 'sieve' out the chaff of the opportunistsfrom the grain of those who are the people's servants. All these will help to PREPARE PAKATAN RAKYAT to take over the Federal Government. One source(not from PR): YB Ngeh, You will be back earlier than you are expected!

All the 1000 over people attended the briefing today unanimously called for the dissolution of the state legislative assembly by raising their hands as shown in the picture above.

YB Sdr Lim Kit Siang reminded the people that DAP:
1) calls for the dissolution og the state legislative assembly and fresh elections.
2) does not accept a state with 2 Menteri Besars more so when one is illegally sworn-in.
3) does not recognise the 3 DUNs who had resigned.

Let us hope that HRH will do the wisest thing by dissolving the DUN and let HRH's subjects exercise their democratic right to elect the people they want to represent them. In this way the state will have the wisest, most capable and able leaders to lead HRH's State of Perak, land of GRACE to greater heights and prosperity for the people to enjoy and others to envy at. Daulat Tuanku!

Lumut Parliamentary Constituency, DAP CNY Gathering

This year's gathering was held on on teh 7th of February 2009at the Crsytal Hotel, Sitiawan, where Dato' Ngeh gave all the old and new DAP members a treat to a dinner to thank them for all the hard work and support they have given to the party and the leadership especially to YB Dato' Ngeh.

Though the mood was sombre because of the unreasonable power grab by the BN from the Pakatan Rakyat government in Perak, our spirit to fight on was not dampened. The recent events have caused us to, all the more to stay united and faithful to our leaders especially YB Dato' Ngeh, YB Nga Kor Ming and our Menteri Besar YAB Datuk Seri Nizar who has all this while shown that he is the Menteri Besar for all races.

In his speech, Dato' Ngeh reiterated that the Pakatan Rakyat government will not give up hope but will fight on, even more so now that the BN has grabbed power unethically without shame and without going back to the people for a mandate. He also appealed to HRH the Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah whom he has respected and loved all these years to reconsider HRH's decision and make the right and wise decision for the good of the people of Perak. The people will continue to love HRH and hold HRH in high regard.

The DAP members of the Lumut constituency resolved the following:

1) We condemn the action of ex-DAP member Pn. Hee Yit Foong, whose actions have caused irreparable damage to the DAP and have caused great anger among the party's supporters who have fearlessly supported the DAP all these years.
2) We challenge the BN to call for by-elections if they are gentlemen. (Jason Ling: Of the more than 100 people I spoke to this past week, ONLY 1 did not agree with me that we should go for the democratic process of election to let the people decide who they want to govern them.) Respect is earned not demanded or in this case 'grabbed'.
3) We appeal to the Election Commission to be fair to all and act independently.
4) We appeal to HRH Sultan Perak whom we hold in high regard to do what is good for HRH subjects. We want to continue to live in unity and in harmony to prosper this land of Perak- Tanah Tumpahnya DarahKu

We respect the Sultan and the authority of the land. We are peace-loving people. We hope that these crises will be solved as soon as possible for the good of the people and the nation.

Evil triumphed over the GOOD?

Tears from Heaven

At 5.15 pm 5 Feb 2009, Ipoh started to rain, rained heavily. This was the time all the Perak State Exco, including YAB Menteri Besar who was legitimately elected to office on 8th of March 2008 was asked to leave Perak State Secretariat office. This sad event happened was due to the power crazy Barisan National grabbed of power from the Pakatan Rakyat government. The Pakatan Rakyat’s workers left SUK with tears of sadness and heavy hearts because of 3 elected representatives without principles was lured by BN to join them.We were sad because the way “thing” were taken away from us.The way power was taken away!

To the three, to prove that you were not bought over you should resign and stand for by-election. Let us decide who we want to represent us. Where is your conscience and where is your principle? To the BN, the only agenda you have is to gain power! Power crazy! You have been rejected in all the by-elections since march 08, so you dare not face the Pakatan Rakyat who has proven to be more capable and clean in every ways. Therefore you comes into power by the back door! Shame on you!
To all the Pakatan Rakyat ADUN and leaders, we will continue to be with you and support you and we love you. Just keep up the good works and we will fight on till we reclaim back the State of Perak for the people of Perak.
The fact that God stopped the rain at exactly 7.00pm to allow MORE Than 10,000 people to gather at the Menteri Besar residence clearly shows that God is with us. Despite the rain people all the races came together with one heart and one spirit to pledge support and allegiance to our beloved MB.People came from as far as Penang, Kuala Lumpur, Teluk Intan nad Sitiawan to show support. If not for the rain I believed there would be more people.
We just hope that HRH Sultan of Perak will hear the people’s call for the dissolution of the Perak State assembly to pave the way for a by election for the rakyat to decide who should be the government. Let the wisdom of the people be the order of the day.
We all pray that God Almighty will reign. InsyaAllah, ……..

Latest In Perak Politic-Media Statement By The Speaker

MEDIA STATEMENT BY V.SIVAKUMAR PERAK STATE
ASSEMBLY SPEAKER AND DATO NGEH KOO HAM PERAK
STATE SENIOR EXCO MEMBER, 5 FEB 2009

The Speaker of the Perak State Assembly and the Perak State Government will be filling a suit this morning at the Ipoh High Court to declare that the 3 State elected representatives namely Puan Hee Yit Foong, Encik Jamaluddin bin Mohd Radzi, Kapt(B) Mohd Osman bin Mohd. Jailu for Jelapang, Behrang and Changkat Jering are no longer elected representative for the said constituencies respectively. The speaker have already accepted the resignations of the said elected representatives and the state Government also recognizes that they are no longer elected representatives for the said constituencies.

This declaration is sought to compel the Election Commission to recognize that the said 3 seats have fell vacant and by-elections must be called. BN also cannot claim that it has the majority in the State Assembly as The Pakatan Rakyat has 28 members while BN also only 28 members. The position of 3 other elected representatives will now have to be determined by the court.

In view of the hung situation the Speaker and the Perak State Government are in full support of the requests by YAB Menteri Besar that the State Assembly be dissolved. We sincerely hope that HRH the Sultan of Perak will grant the dissolution of the State Assembly as requested.

In situation of doubt, it is best to go back to people to seek a fresh mandate as such practice is an inherent part of parliamentary democracy. We do not know why BN is so fearful of seeking a mandate from the people if it purports to rule with the people’s support.

PS: Time for filling suit at 11.30am
5/2/09 at High Court Ipoh

Fiesta Jis Pai Peringkat Negeri Perak.
Padang TNB Kuala Woh Tapah.
31hb Januari 2009 (Sabtu)
Jam : 11.00 pagi

Selamat Menyambut Fiesta "Jis Pai "

Sekian Terima Kasih .
