Dissolve the Perak State Assembly

Press Statement by Lim Guan Eng in Georgetown on Thursday, 29th October 2009:
Dissolve the Perak State Assembly for a clear mandate from the people
DAP condemns BN’s shameless and dictatorial take over of the Perak State Assembly yesterday which resulted in violent acts against the rightful Perak State Assembly Speaker Sivakumar and PR ADUNs.
The Barisan Nasional illegally appointed Speaker, Datuk R. Ganesan had banned the use of visual recording devices, mobile phones and laptops in the House. This is totally in contrast of what is practised at Parliament where the parliamentarians can now access the Internet via the computers provided by the Dewan. We condemn these double standards as it was reported that Datuk Mohd Khusairi Abdul Talib (Slim-BN) was seen typing at his laptop throughout the proceedings.
All the Pakatan politicians were subjected to undergo metal detection screening and frisking. This is a clear infringement and a threat to the democratic rights of our elected representatives of the people. Pantai Remis assemblyman Nga Kor Ming received the wrath of the police when he resisted the attempts to a bodily search. During the body search, a police officer had grabbed his private parts. The rightful Perak Speaker, Sivakumar was roughed up while the police were tearing off his robe.
To allow the police to conduct proceedings in the Perak State Assembly proves that there is no more democratically elected government in Perak but that it is a police state.
The Perak Budget 2010 speech was delivered by Datuk Zambry in less than 20 minutes. Very little details very given to the sketchy budget and yet, it was tabled and passed with the support of the BN and Independent State Assemblymen.
DAP reiterates its call of an immediate dissolution of the Perak State Assembly and hold fresh elections in Perak to allow the rakyat the right to choose their own government. Only by returning power to the people, then can justice, freedom, truth and democracy be restored in Perak.

Another 1BlackMsia maketh.

Yes, the best solution to the impasse in Perak is to dissolve the state assembly. Through videos posted almost everywhere on the internet, the whole world can see that the PDRM was lying through their teeth when the police chief of Perak said they did nothing inappropriate; and the 'ruling' court-appointed BN govt is trying to hold on to power any which way they could, by hook or by crook.

So, the call to dissolve the state assembly will never ever materialize, until and unless something unforeseen happens. Till then, PR and the people of Perak have to grind their teeth and bear with it, come rain or shine!

LAWAN TETAP LAWAN!

Just for sharing.

As usual there were many good speakers and suggestions or issues the members from the floor wanted to present in any convention. Since I did not have the chance to share today at the first Perak State Pakatan Rakyat’s convention, I wish to share my prepared note here.
I want to say that the leaders of the PR have done a good job in term of the fighting spirit and the able leadership despite many challenges within and without the parties in the different states as well as nationally. Many of these challenges are due to the political self-interest of some individuals I believe. The up and coming (second liners) leaders are the troubles maker.
Those who go to the press to criticize fellow members or leaders should be dealt with severely.
Overall the leaderships had done a fabulous job whether at state or national level. This is also the feedback from the public.
Therefore I hope and believed the leaderships are able to resolve the various issues that has arise of late. And the common Pakatan Rakyat vision, mission and understanding can be drafted as soon as possible.
On the state level, I humbly wish to present my 2 cents worth issues that the general public, as well as the grass root supporters wish to highlight to the leadership for deliberations. I hope the leadership will hear and see and act on the issues that are beneficial to the Pakatan Rakyat as well as the respective parties.
1) Quranic verses are been quoted by leaders during speeches since Pakatan Rakyat took over the Gov of Perak. These show that the good values and teaching of Islam has influenced non-muslim as well. The 3 parties worked l together very well in Perak. Closer then ever! Don’t you agree?
The point I want to stress here is we need not have to impose or assert any value on anyone but good value will be picked up by others. The religion value is very much between individual and God we believe in and religious education can bring about good values and good morale in the people if we teach them at the young age. We need to start from the very young children. (My almost 30 years of involvement in the children’s work tell me this truth). I hope the good working relationship among Pakatan Rakyat can be maintained and not be spoilt by the outward religion issue.
2) Pakatan Rakyat should have more regular well coordinated functions to promote good relationships. There is a saying” a family that eat and play together is the family that stayed together” The launching of the Pemuda Pakatan Rakyat was a good beginning though we can still improve on the co-ordinations between all 3 parties because I saw only a handful of supporters from certain party.

3) I still get complain from the public now saying that it was very difficult to see Exco during PR time. There are many people who could not see Exco at all during the PR reign. I hope when we take Perak back the Exco can be more accessible.

4) Many complained over the appointment of Ahli Majlis and certain gov agencies positions. Multi -positions of certain person was the issue. Veteran supporters were neglected even they have worked hard for more than 10 years for their respective parties. I received these complains from different parties members and from different places in Perak. People unknown to the party’s member were appointed.
These have caused unhappiness, dissent and demoralized the supporters. The past contributions were not appreciated. It has become exclusive not inclusive. We need a team not certain individual only.
WE CAN BUY A HAND BUT NOT THE HEART, ETHUSIASM AND LOYALTY.- 308 HAPPENED BECAUSE THE PEOPLE HAD MADE IT HAPPENED!

I believe the most important component for Pakatan Rakyat to be successful is to have the ability to inspire and motivate others towards accomplishing shared dreams and values to enhance individual effort through teamwork.

Lastly, I hope we will be back to rule Perak very soon and this time around we can do much better. More organized, more experienced and if iron hand is needed…….and listen to the grass root! From the grass roots, we know what the people want or appreciate.
