Lumut Parliamentary Constituency, DAP CNY Gathering

This year's gathering was held on on teh 7th of February 2009at the Crsytal Hotel, Sitiawan, where Dato' Ngeh gave all the old and new DAP members a treat to a dinner to thank them for all the hard work and support they have given to the party and the leadership especially to YB Dato' Ngeh.

Though the mood was sombre because of the unreasonable power grab by the BN from the Pakatan Rakyat government in Perak, our spirit to fight on was not dampened. The recent events have caused us to, all the more to stay united and faithful to our leaders especially YB Dato' Ngeh, YB Nga Kor Ming and our Menteri Besar YAB Datuk Seri Nizar who has all this while shown that he is the Menteri Besar for all races.

In his speech, Dato' Ngeh reiterated that the Pakatan Rakyat government will not give up hope but will fight on, even more so now that the BN has grabbed power unethically without shame and without going back to the people for a mandate. He also appealed to HRH the Sultan of Perak Sultan Azlan Shah whom he has respected and loved all these years to reconsider HRH's decision and make the right and wise decision for the good of the people of Perak. The people will continue to love HRH and hold HRH in high regard.

The DAP members of the Lumut constituency resolved the following:

1) We condemn the action of ex-DAP member Pn. Hee Yit Foong, whose actions have caused irreparable damage to the DAP and have caused great anger among the party's supporters who have fearlessly supported the DAP all these years.
2) We challenge the BN to call for by-elections if they are gentlemen. (Jason Ling: Of the more than 100 people I spoke to this past week, ONLY 1 did not agree with me that we should go for the democratic process of election to let the people decide who they want to govern them.) Respect is earned not demanded or in this case 'grabbed'.
3) We appeal to the Election Commission to be fair to all and act independently.
4) We appeal to HRH Sultan Perak whom we hold in high regard to do what is good for HRH subjects. We want to continue to live in unity and in harmony to prosper this land of Perak- Tanah Tumpahnya DarahKu

We respect the Sultan and the authority of the land. We are peace-loving people. We hope that these crises will be solved as soon as possible for the good of the people and the nation.
